I have a Pi V2B running Stretch which I set up last fall and it has been basically dormant since then. Recently I fired it up and all seemed to be ok. The PIco HV3.0 card seemed to be functioning and power loss tests seemed to be ok.

However, I tried to run the pico_status_hv3.0.py program and it throws this error:

To check on the status of the i2 parameters I ran this:

I was expecting some entries in line 60, but nothing.

I now repeated my notes from the setup procedure detail in your documentaton:

PiMods PiCO setup
   A. sudo apt-get install python-rpi.gpio
   b. sudo apt-get -y install git python-dev python-serial python-smbus python-jinja2 python-xmltodict python-psutil python-pip
   c. sudo git clone https://github.com/modmypi/PiModules.git
   d. cd PiModules/code/python/package -- note no sudo
   e. sudo python setup.py install
   f. cd ../upspico/picofssd
   g. sudo python setup.py install
   h. sudo update-rc.d picofssd defaults
   i. sudo update-rc.d picofssd enable
   j. sudo systemctl enable picofssd.service
26. RTC setup
   a. sudo apt-get install i2c-tools -- already there
   b. sudo nano /etc/modules
       add these as needed:
       1. i2c-bcm2708
       2. i2c-dev
       3. rtc-ds1307
   c. sudo nano /boot/config.txt and add these two lines
       1. enable_uart=1
       2. dtoverlay=i2c-rtc,ds1307
   d. sudo nano /etc/rc.local add the following line
       1. sleep 4; hwclock -s &


Rebooted and running the status script still throws an error.

Can you offer and help with this problem?

So basically the status script as you mention isn't the issue.
The script tells you the board isn't reachable as you gave your self as answer by conducting "sudo i2cdetect -y 1"
Somewhere in de line you have an issue which is causing a non functional gpio port.

Which kernel version are you running?
And is possible you could try my picotoolkit to see if it helps and rule out something you maybe forgot.
When trying out my script, first option you have to select is "remove"
After that run the script again and now select install.

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep that in mind for future issues. This time I fixed the issue by doing a "Factory Reset":

1. Press and HOLD the UR button
2. Continue to hold the UR button, press and HOLD the C button
3. Continue to hold the the C button, release the UR button.
4. Release the C button
