TopEnd - External Power

Postby kortina » Thu Jul 13, 2017 11:42 am

Hi Guys,

I purchased a UPS PIco HV3.0A TopEnd with 450mAh Battery so that I can put the Pi into my car... I am planning to run a simple NAS (Samba).

The car is the typical 12v

This might sound like a stupid question, but how to I supply the 12v into the TopEnd !?

I cant find any details on the "External Supply Powering Input"

Kind Regards,
k

Hi,
There are no stupid questions ( as people making questions do not know something). However there are often stupid answers ( as answering person need to know if answering) :-)
Hopefully my answer is not stupid
So, You can not use TopEnd for the External Powering, as this circuit is available only in the version Plus (buck converter)
You can mode the version Plus to be TopEnd (yourself) if you order/use TopEnd 40 pins header, TopEnd Low profile buzzer, as also not use the Green Terminal Blocks for the EXP and use just soldered cables instead of it. Then the Plus can fit-in to the Official Raspberry Pi Case without any modifications.
Warmest Regards

OK. So it looks like I ordered the wrong item.

The information on the web page is very misleading:
http://www.pimodulescart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=43

The External Supply Powering Input is able to accept power from 7 V DC up to 28 V DC!! Thus make it ideal for Cars, Trucks, Buses and any industrial applications where voltage is usually higher than 24V DC.

If the information was in the Wiki, I also might have had a chance at ordering the right thing:
https://github.com/modmypi/PiModules/wi ... op-End-450

How do I go about getting the right item?

Hi,
This is the Plus
http://www.pimodulescart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=29

If you like we can send you it instead of the TopEnd, if so please order normally the Plus, and we will refund you the TopEnd when you show me the Post Shipping Back the TopEnd to us. You will not save so much (as need to pay both ways shipping) so it is up to you.

Technical Specifications and comparison Table is here
