Watchdog restoring a crashed pi

Postby lpc » Thu Nov 02, 2017 10:35 am

Hi,

I have a pico that's on version 0x38. It has the gold pin attached. It is doing well for UPS backup and RTC. However, when the pi crashes I would like the pico to detect this with its watchdog and then power cycle the pi to restart it. I don't see this happening when I successfully force a crash of the pi using instructions on this page.

There are intructions at the bottom of the following thread to edit picofssd.py to make the watchdog do this, but this is outdated, I assume, as if I am correct picofssd.py has been replaced by /usr/local/bin/picofssd?

Do I need some up to date instructions, or would you expect a crash on the pi to result in the pi restarting, without any additions to the normal install of firmware and the pi service? If so would you have some ideas why it isn't working for me? Thanks.
